3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Delhi-NCR

An extensive earthquake shook Delhi-NCR today. Vibrations were felt in Delhi and all across the national capital region (NCR). Initial reports recommend that an earthquake of a magnitude of 3.5 Richter scale hit Delhi NCR at 5.45 pm, arousing panic-stricken people to step out of their homes.

The epicenter is recorded to be the north-northeastern region of Delhi. Its epicenter was in the north-northeastern region of Delhi NCR at the depth of 8 km. The epicenter was based at Latitude 28.7 N and Longitude 77.2 E.

Satyanarayan Pradhan, the DG of National Disaster Response Force wrote on Twitter that Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.5 Richter scale hit Delhi NCR. Occurred on:12-04-2020, 17:45:03 IST, Latitude: 28.7 N and Longitude: 77.2 E, Depth: 8 Km, Region: north-northeastern region of Delhi.

There was no immediate report of any damage to property or any kind of casualties.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also wrote on Twitter, Vibrations felt in Delhi NCR region. Hope everyone is safe. I pray for the safety of everyone.

The vibrations continued for several seconds and many people rushed out of their residents. S Damle, a resident of East Delhi said that he felt his chair shaking and there was a loud rumbling sound. It was too frightening. I along my family rushed out of the house.

Arefa Sultana, a resident of Lajpat Nagar 1 said We were watching TV and suddenly felt the vibrations. We ran immediately out of the house. Few of our neighbors had also accumulated outside. We waited for some time outside the home and greeted our neighbors from a distance and returned to the house.
