70 COVID-19 Vaccines In Development Globally, WHO

“Total 70 coronavirus vaccines are in process, with 3 trials done on humans”, says WHO.

Everyone in the world is fighting to get a cure for COVID-19, a disease caused by a coronavirus, which has become pandemic. Recently, WHO has announced that 70 vaccines for COVID-19, which are being developed around the world, of which 3 human trials of this vaccine have already been conducted.

CanSino biologists, of Honk Kong, and the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology, have gone the furthest so far, developing an experimental vaccine, currently in the second phase. The two other, which are tested on humans are developed, by US drugmakers, and Inovio Pharmaceuticals, separately, as per document provided by WHO.

Progress of development, of the vaccine, has been moving in an unparalleled way, reducing the time from 10 – 15 years to the next year. This long time taken is due to different variables of this disease, which cannot be stopped by lockdown alone.

Chinese vaccine, which has been approved, for testing on humans at the Virus Epicenter Progress, is rushing to develop the required vaccine as the highly infectious respiratory disease is extending like wildfire all over the world, and has infected almost 19,00,000 people.

Many drugmakers of different scales, no matter, big or small, have jumped in the field of developing a vaccine for diseases caused by a coronavirus. Pfizer Inc., Sanofi are some of the huge Pharmaceutical companies, having people in the preclinical stages, as per the WHO document.

Regulatory approvals from China have been received, for the trials of the vaccine on humans, as said by CanSino.

Some pharmaceuticals such as Moderna which is Massachusetts-based, Cambridge- which has not produced a single product- have also received approvals for the human trials of this vaccine, speeding it to start by March by the skipping of trials made on animals before being done on humans, while the development of vaccines.

Human trials have been started by Inovio this last week.
