Aligarh: Man ‘Beaten To Death By Staff’ For Rs. 4,000 Due Bill

On Thursday afternoon, a resident of Aligarh beaten by the hospital staff died. The private hospital’s staff beat up the patient for due payment of Rs. 4,000.
Sultan Khan aged 44, the victim was a resident in Aligarh’s district, Iglas village.

As per the family members of Sultan, some hospital staff attacked Sultan and other relatives. They further said that the hospital was demanding the due money, but the family was leaving the hospital since they could not afford the treatment.

The police recovered CCTV “in which a scuffle is visible with the hospital staff”, SP (City), Aligarh, Abhishek said, as reported by TheIndianExpress.

He further said that the Kwarsi police station’s SHO filed an FIR regarding the case. The SHO also asked to investigate the CCTV footage.

On the incident, the SP said, “The victim, Sultan Khan, had come to the private hospital for treatment on Thursday. As per their (family’s) complaint, there was an issue over payment, which resulted in a scuffle. In that scuffle, the patient died, as per the family.”

As reported by TheIndianExpress the family accused the hospital of overcharging even though Sultan received no treatment. A relative of Chaman, as reported said that Sultan had a problem in urination since past days so he went to the private hospital in Kwarsi area for a check-up.“They told us that an ultrasound needed to be done. We checked about the admission fees and told them specifically that we will get him treated only if we can afford it. They billed us around Rs 4,000 for medicines without carrying an ultrasound,” Chaman said.

The bill for medicines came to Rs. 3,783 which the family agreed to pay. But, the Hospital charged extra Rs. 4,000 for a hospital visit.
Further, Chaman said, as reported by the media that hospital officials already charged Rs. 200 for the hospital visit and now Rs. 4,000 for the same purpose was invalid.

The family accused that some people cornered them on the scooty and beat them up. Sultan died after a fatal blow, said Chaman, as reported by TheIndianExpress.
