Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi said that the women who was gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh’s district Hathras was earlier raped by beasts and now the entire system raped her.
The woman’s family alleged that the police forced them to hold her last rites in the middle of the night.
On September 14, a Dalit woman of 19 years age from Uttar Pradesh died at a hospital in New Delhi after she was gang-raped by four upper-caste men in Hathras district.
15 days ago after the incident, the victim was admitted to the hospital. Her tongue was cut off with severed injured spinal cord, along with other serious injuries. She was shifted to Aligarh hospital firstly for treatment and was later moved to Safdurjung hospital in Delhi.
The woman’s body was cremated in Hathras in the morning today. As per local police officers, the cremation was done with the permission of the family.
“The Hathras victim was earlier raped by some beasts and yesterday the entire system raped her. The entire matter is highly painful,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.
Earlier, Mr Arvind Kejriwal had termed the death of the 19-year-old woman as a “matter of shame for the whole society, country and all governments,” and demanded death penalty for those found guilty.
The woman was raped in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district by four men on September 14. She was referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital after initially be treated in UP. She died in Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital.
Protests broke out in Delhi as well as in Hathras after the news broke out.
Bhim Army and Congress workers staged protests at Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday, demanding justice for the woman. The Uttar Pradesh Police took the woman’s body and her family members back to the state from the hospital on Tuesday night.
