Bengaluru Loco Pilot Distributes 120 Food Packets Daily

A Loco Pilot and his friend in Bengaluru cook and circulate about 120 food packets daily to the needy people in the nationwide lockdown amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Ravi and his friend have been doing this Noble work since April 7 and plan on extending it as long as they can continue it.

Ravi, with 20 years of experience as an express train driver, was filled with emotion when narrating his experience to a news agency. Ravi said on Wednesday that the public is devastated with gratitude & bless us. I cannot put into words how devastated with emotion I am feeling blessed to be able to help needy people like this.

Ravi is also getting help in his house in BEML Layout, Basaveshvaranagar, Bengaluru (Karnataka) by his wife, Anu Surya, a homemaker, and daughters Deepika and Keerthana. Loco drier Ravi said that we carried out the delivered of 120 packets of tomato rice on Ring Road on Tuesday afternoon to the needy people passing through there. We made 130 vegetable rice packets and circulated them on the same road as well as at a slum in Kamakshipalaya on Wednesday afternoon.

The loco pilot Ravi said that the unusual situation faced by the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic was the main motivation for him to take the step.

He added it costs nearly Rs 3,000 a day to feed the needy people. He said his friend Somashekhar, who works in the private sector and I are handling the cost as of now by sharing in from our pockets. We began distributing foods to the needy person on April 7 and our plan is to extend it until we are able to assist it.

Our Neighbours also came forward to help us in this noble cause. They have now started chipping in with rice, vegetables & other essentials. Ravi added his two other friends Nagaraj and T Swami are also helping out.
