Earthquake on 7 Countries and Islands of the World in Last 7 Days: On Tuesday (US local time), the morning of 22 July at 11:45 am, strong earthquake tremors were felt in the Alaska, peninsula region of the United States.
This earthquake was centered in waters 65 miles (105 kilometers) south-southeast of the tiny community of Perry Ville, at a depth of 17 miles (28 kilometers), according to the U.S Geological survey. Resident in some small town within a 100mile (160km) of the earthquake reported very strong shaking and some shaking was felt more than 500 miles (805km) away in the anchored area, said Michael West, Alaska state seismologist.
In the last 7 days, a high magnitude earthquake has occurred in 7 different countries and islands of the world. Those countries include the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India, where the tremors of earthquakes were felt on July 17 at 7:33 p.m. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.1 on the Richter scale.
But the earthquake first hit in Popondetta, Papua New Guinea where 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit at 8:20 in the morning. Followed by Iquique, Chile where tremors of 5.9 magnitude earthquake were felt at 11:00 am. Then on July 18, an earthquake was hit 160km from Soloman Island with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale. On the same day, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded at Sonia, 184km from Apia at 9 p.m. After this, a 6.0 magnitudes earthquake struck Suva, Fiji at 2:26 a.m. on July 22 and the same day at Alaska (US).
Within the last 3 months, we have seen that tremors have been felt 17 times in India’s capital New Delhi and it’s adjoining areas.
Professor Chandan Ghosh of Civil Engineering Department of IIT JAMMU said; Delhi falls in the northern region. It is in the zone – 4 in terms of earthquake centers are also changing due to change in environment. This is Happening due to changes in tectonic plates. Delhi is close to the Himalayas.
Professor ML Sharma of IIT Roorkee said that it would be wrong to make any assessment about the frequent earthquake in Delhi NCR. These earthquakes are coming due to the fault line present in Delhi NCR.
Overall this is a matter of concern for the whole world. An earthquake occurs in many places on the same day around the world reflecting the fast movement and changes taking place under our planet earth.
If we don’t stop messing with nature or mother earth then in future the earthquake can affect most of the countries of the world.
