HC Asked Police To File Status Report On Safoora Zargar’s Bail Plea

On Thursday, the Delhi HC asked the Delhi Police to file a status report on JCC member Safoora Zargar. She has been accused of holding anti-CAA protest march in Delhi’s north-east district, as reported by Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police.

As per the police, Zargar can be seen in the video footage of the area that broke with violence. Jaffrabad Area, the said place of holding anti-CAA protest, consisted of women who had begun this protest last year. After this protest was held violence broke out between anti-CAA people and people who were pro-CAA. 53 people in this protest were killed.

Safoora Zargar is an M. Phil student of Jamia Millia Islamia University. She is more than 4 months pregnant and currently in jail.

The Delhi Police has been asked to file a status report regarding a plea by JCC member Safoora Zargar.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher issued notice to the police and asked it to file a status report on the bail plea.

HC Asked Jail Superintendent To Provide Required Medical Aid To Safoora

The police arrested Safoora on April 10 and denied her bail after challenging the June 4 order. The matter for further hearing shifted to June 22 by the High Court.

The trial court, in its order, had said when you choose to play with embers, you cannot blame the wind to have carried the spark a bit too far and spread the fire.
It had said that during the investigation a larger conspiracy was discernible and if there was prima evidence of conspiracy, acts and statements made by any one of the conspirators, it is admissible against all.

The court had further said that Safoora is liable for UAPA provisions, even though no direct violence can be seen from her side.
However, the concerned jail superintendent has been ordered by the court to provide the required medical and assistance to Zargar.
