On Saturday Kanye West, the rapper announced that he will stand up for the US presidential elections in 2020.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” the billionaire rapper tweeted. “I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”
Kanye admires President Donald Trump. However, he has not spoken much about his candidacy. West is the husband of media personality and actor Kim Kardashian. Reuters reported that the election is scheduled for November 3, but nominations are still open in many states.
Kanye West held a press conference in which he makes use of some expletives, as reported by the AFP. He also met Trump in 2018 at the Oval Office, and in the press conference, Kanye told, how much he admired US’ President Donald Trump.
In 2019, during an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music’s Beats 1 show, West claimed his support for Trump was an attempt to rile Democrats and announced his presidential ambitions. “There will be a time when I will be the president of the US, and I will remember…any founder that didn’t have the capacity to understand culturally what we were doing,” he said without clarifying.
Technology entrepreneur Elon Musk expressed joy at West’s announcement. “You have my full support!” Musk wrote in a tweet.
However, this is not the first time that Kanye has announced for standing US presidential elections, as reported by BBC. In the MTV Video Music Awards held in 2015, Kanye said that he would stand for presidential elections in 2020. However, the last November he changed the date and said that he would be contesting for 2024 Presidential election.
This year US presidential elections will have a strong fight between Republican President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden.
Kanye West made a strange appearance at the White House back in 2018. In that appearance with President Trump, he wore a hat of Make America Great Again. He also said that Mr Trump described his hat as “quite something.”
