To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country, PM Narendra Modi has declared a nation-wide lockdown till 3 May. The effect of nation-wide lockdown is now visible & the spread of coronavirus is gently seen to decrease. In such a situation, many states all over India have said to increase the nation-wide lockdown even after 3 May. The Delhi Govt committee on COVID-19 has already said that if the coronavirus is to be overcome completely, there is a need to increase the nation-wide lockdown in the Delhi region by 16 May as Delhi reported 2,625 infections including 54 deaths. Like Delhi Government, now other states have started talking about continuing the lockdown even after 3 May.
Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, and Odisha have spoken of advancing the lockdown as the decrease in the spread of coronavirus is now visible. At the same time, 6 states have clearly stated that they will follow any kind of instructions laid down by the central government. These states include Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Himachal Pradesh. Assam, Kerala, and Bihar have not yet responded to this. These states have said that they will make a decision only after talking to PM Narendra Modi & ministers of other states.
The Telangana govt has already announced to extend the lockdown till May 7, in view of the increasing case of COVID-19 pandemic. The Telangana government has made it clear that it can extend the lockdown viz coronavirus outbreak even further but it will be decided later on after the meeting of All state chief ministers with Prime Minister Modi on 5 May.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that in Maharashtra, 92% of COVID-19 patients are from Mumbai & Pune, so the lockdown in the hotspot region should be extended till May 18. According to official data, OF Maharashtra’s total 6,817 COVID-19 positive cases, 4,447 come from Mumbai while 961 cases are from Pune.

It is being told by sources that this time the lockdown will be continued to those places in the states which are having more hotspot regions.
