Chinese tech company OnePlus has leveraged Augmented Reality (AR) to give people a glance at their latest smartphone, the OnePlus 8.
On April 14, Chinese tech company OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 8, the company’s “newest addition to its ultra-premium flagship lineup”. But not everyone can get up close to the latest smartphone, the OnePlus 8 due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and consecutive nation-wide lockdowns and quarantines. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said OnePlus India has launched an Augmented Reality (AR) effect on Insta to let people unbox the latest smartphone, the OnePlus 8 in their own homes.
The Augmented Reality (AR) filter or effect can be found using the search function in the effects section of an Insta user’s story creation knack. User has to easily position their camera’s focus on a plain surface and the red OnePlus logo will start appearing.
Over the Instagram, you can also see the option to share the resulting video on your Insta Story, but you evidently cannot turn the ‘device’ on or practice it, as it is simply an animation, accomplished.

The Augmented Reality (AR) effect does not detail specification or a specific launch date for the Indian mobile market. But the latest smartphone, the OnePlus 8 of Chinese tech company OnePlus is rumored to launch in India in June 2020. The new OnePlus 8 consists of an advanced 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid Display with a 120Hz refresh rate. User can also have a look at progressive motion estimation, motion compensation (MEMC) algorithms, so that one can enjoy an expanded frame rate of up to 120 frames-per-second on more content, for dropped motion blur & crisper clarity.
The latest smartphone, the OnePlus 8 of Chinese tech company OnePlus comes with a 4300mAh battery, as well as a triple camera set up at the rear of the device. The main camera features of OnePlus 8 is Sony’s 48-megapixel IMX586 sensor. OnePlus 8 also has a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
