Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Speech Highlights

The Prime Minister addressed the nation on May 12, at 8 pm. In the speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there will be a fourth lockdown beyond May 17 and he also said that the lockdown 4.0 will be different from the past three lockdowns.

Since the coronavirus outbreak, this is the fifth time, PM is addressing to the nation. He said that this lockdown will have new rules and it will completely different. PM Modi said that everyone will be informed about the new rules before May 18.

The Prime Minister also said that scientists suppose that the coronavirus will be a part of our lives for a very long time, “but we can’t let our lives remain confined around corona”. He said that without surrendering everyone will wear masks and will adhere to the social distancing norms so that the coronavirus does not reach us.

In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Speech, he also underlined the country’s effort to limit the spread of the virus, saying “India has given a ray of hope to the world”. Talking about self-dependent, he said that when India speaks of self-reliance, it does not promote a self-centred system, rather, in India’s self-reliance, there is a concern for the happiness of the whole world, peace, and cooperation. 

Listing five pillars for a self-reliant India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the first is economy that is incremental change and not quantum jump. The second is infrastructure. The third is tech-driven System. The fourth pillar is our vibrant democracy. The fifth pillar is our economic demand. He said that there should be full utilization of the supply chain demand.

To strengthen local markets, PM Modi said that local suppliers have met ‘our demands’ and now Indians will have to be ‘vocal about local’ and buy products from them. He said that due to the pandemic we have learned how important local supply chains are. He encouraged all Indians to become vocal for their local products. He added that the global brands that everybody sees today were once local, they grew after their countrymen supported them.

PM Modi also announced a special economic package worth Rs 20 lakh crore which is 10 per-cent of India’s GDP to keep the health of the country’s economy healthy. This package was announced to fulfill ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan‘.
