On Thursday, the Union Science and Technology Minister, Harsh Vardhan said that India is presently conducting around 5 Lac COVID-19 tests daily. He added that India is planning to increase the daily COVID-19 test by doubling the number of tests done daily.
Harsh Vardhan who is also the Union Health Minister said that India’s recovery rate stands at 64 per-cent which is by far the best in the world, as reported by PTI. He added that the fatality rate in India due to the infection is 2.2 per-cent. Harsh Vardhan said these statements during the launch of a compendium on CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) for COVID-19 mitigation.
Recently, India recorded as many as 52,123 fresh cases of COVID-19 in a single day. India is reporting more than 50,000 fresh COVID-19 cases in 24 hrs consecutively. India’s total coronavirus toll reaches to 1,583,792. The death toll also rose to 34,968 from 34,193, according to data released. There are currently 5,28,242 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country presently and the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients was recorded at 64.44 per cent, while the fatality rate was at 2.21 per cent. Late on Wednesday, the government allowed gymnasiums and yoga institutes to function from August 5 and revoked night curfew even as all other activities banned earlier continue to remain prohibited.
Globally, 16,959,936 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus. The death toll stood at 665,581. The United States continued to remain the worst affected followed by Brazil and India.
Recently a study conducted in South Korea founded that people are contracting the coronavirus from within their own households rather than contracting from outsiders.
Meanwhile, Covaxin, India’s first developed vaccine against the coronavirus, started its first phase of human trial. The human trial began at Delhi’s AIIMS. The first dose of the injection was given to a 30-year-old man.
