Vikas Dubey, 'SC Appalled At The Fact That He Was Released On Bail'

On Monday, the SC heard a plea regarding the encounter of the gangster Vikas Dubey. While hearing the plea, the SC pointed out how Vikas Dubey was on bail, when he was such a criminal. The SC bench led by CJI S A Bobde said, “We are appalled at the fact that such a person was released on bail despite all he has done. This is a clear failure. We need a clear report of all those orders.”

On the other hand, earlier the UP Government agreed to make a committee for probing in the killing of Vikas Dubey. The UP Government said that the committee will consist of a retired SC Judge and a retired police officer.

During the hearing, the court also said that it understands the “big difference” between Vikas Dubey’s killing and the Hyderabad rape-murder encounter and asked the government to consider adding an ex-judge of the apex court and a retired police officer in the inquiry committee set up by the bench to probe the matter. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, on behalf of Uttar Pradesh government, agreed to the court’s suggestion.

The court is hearing two petitions filed by lawyers Ghanashyam Upadhayay and Anoop Prakash Awasthi, seeking court-monitored probe in the killing of Dubey.

The court in its prior hearing had appointed a committee to investigate the killing of Vikas Dubey, in the same manner, it had done in the encounter case of Hyderabad rape-murder.

The bench, however, added that it did not intend to monitor the probe as it would then make it impossible for the court to hear appeals.

Moreover, the UP police told the court that Vikas Dubey’s killing was not a fake encounter.

As per the police, Vikas Dubey tried to escape while he was taken by the police after getting caught.

In Kanpur, 8 UP cops got killed during their attempt to arrest Vikas Dubey. The police team who were trying to arrest the criminal were backfired by a group of assailants.

However, Vikas Dubey, the gangster’s encounter by the police has been eyed with suspicion.
