Vizag Cops Thrash Suspended Doctor; Hands Tied And Dragged

On Saturday Vizag police thrashed a doctor for purposefully creating problems publically and bad-mouthing the state government in a drunk condition. Police tied his hands and dragged him to the road.

The doctor, Dr. K Sudhakar was seen in the video went viral in which police constable was seen kicking him and then floored him on the road.
The doctor was suspended in the last month after he complained about the inadequate supply of PPE kits and N-95 masks for the doctors by the government.

R K Meena, the police commissioner of Visakhapatnam announced that the police who misbehaved with the doctor were under suspension with an inquiry ahead.

The police commissioner told reporters that the police control room had received a call stating that a person was creating a nuisance on the highway at Akkayyapalem area. According to him, the fourth town police rushed to the place and ascertained that the person was Dr. Sudhakar of Narsipatnam government hospital, presently under suspension.

The police commissioner said that Sudhakar must be having some psychological problems as he was drunk and was misbehaving with the police. He further said that Sudhakar grasped a constable’s phone and threw it away.

She further said that Sudhakar was taken into custody by the police and was shifted to the police station to prevent any nuisance on the national highway.

The police commissioner of the Vizag said that the doctor was sent to the King George Hospital and after his reports will be received, they shall book Sudhakar under IPC.

In March the first week, Sudhakar protested before the media saying that insufficient N-95 masks and PPEs were provided by the government to the doctors. He further said that masks and PPEs which were meant for doctors were sent to the police and politicians.
He had asked that how can doctors treat patients when doctors are at risk since doctors were asked to repeat masks for 15 days before a fresh mask was given.
As the video of his comments went viral in the media, the state government ordered a probe into his allegations and suspended Sudhakar on disciplinary grounds.
